Meet Your Parent Coordinator, Abena Roman

Abena Roman is the proud mother of four children who all attended and graduated from P.S. 69 Journey Prep. She was born in Harlem and raised in the South Bronx.  Abena attended the United Nations International School from Kindergarten through the 12th grade. It is there where she met, and remains friends with, people from all over the world. P.S. 69 was her first experience with public school and it was a great experience. As a parent she was involved. She volunteered daily and was part of the Parent Association and was also a member of the School Leadership Team. She even continued to volunteer  long after her last child graduated from PS 6.9. She was invited to join the P.S. 69 team in 2019 and she gladly accepted. Abena Roman is very honored to be part of the P.S. 69 Staff as a Parent Coordinator, where she can use her knowledge of the school and the community to help new families though their journey at P.S. 69 Journey Prep.

Her e-mail is aroman23@schools.nyc.gov

Healthy Snacks and Healthy Minds!

We strive for a healthy lifestyle here at PS 69 Journey Prep!

Our goal is for all of our students to be academically and socially successful. Research shows that children who eat foods/snacks that are high in sugar and fat, do not perform well academically.

In an effort to provide students with the healthiest environment, we make every effort to help our students stay physically fit through programs we have specifically designed. Your child participates ion physical exercise every day, such as recess, or physical education class. Our Fan 4 Kids program teaches healthy nutrition and physical fitness to our younger students.

As our partner in your child's education, we need your support! We are encouraging parents to provide ONLY healthy snacks for school.

FREE BREAKFAST is served every morning from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM. Please make sure your child arrives early enough to eat breakfast.
